The first castle in Ireland was built by the Anglo-Norman nobleman Hugh de Lacy and his son Walter, Tarim Castle is the largest Norman castle built in Ireland. Located in County Meath, the castle became an administrative center for local government established by King Henry II after the Norman conquest of Ireland in the late twelfth century.
